Collins, Suzanne: The Hunger Games, vol. 1
Buchtipps | Englische Bücher
This book is about a girl, named Katniss, who has to participate in the live TV show: The Hunger Games. Every year a girl and a boy from every district are selected to join this game. There are 12 districts, therefore 24 opponents. There are no rules. But it is all about killing or being killed.
The boy Peeta has been selected, too. During trainings with the other tributes they can show their qualities.
The game begins:
The tributes have to kill each other and only one can be the winner or rather the surviver. The first day ends and some people die. It is a horrible thing to kill other humans, but it is also hard to survive on one’s own without any help. Katniss is very liked by the audience so she has good chances to get sponsors to make the survival easier. Not only the audience likes her but also Peeta. He is in love with her. As it is very hard to fight against a girl you love, the game masters have a great idea, but read about it yourself.
My opinion:
The book is so exciting and I could not stop reading. The story is written from the protagonist’s point of view (Katniss), so you can feel with her. I saw the film, but I think the book is better, especially because it’s more detailed and the love story between Katniss and Peeta is more distinct. The language is not so easy.
